Dane Todd, M.D.

Dr. Dane Todd specializes in the surgical treatment of pediatric, adolescent, and adult sports injuries of the hip, knee, and shoulder as well as shoulder replacement. He serves as team physician for the University of Nebraska Football, Men’s Gymnastics, Track and Field, and Cheerleading/Dance as well as the team physician for Lincoln Southeast High School.

Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska he attended Lincoln Southeast High School before receiving his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Nebraska where he played fullback for the Huskers. During his football career he was a four year letter winner, First Team All Big XII, First Team Academic All-American, Nebraska Male Athlete of the Year, and received the Walter Byers scholarship which is awarded to the nation’s top student athlete in all sports and all divisions.

Education

He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia where he went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery internship and residency, being named the Junior Resident of the Year by his peers and was Administrative Chief Resident in his final year. Following residency, he completed an additional sports medicine fellowship at the University of Utah with a specific focus on hip arthroscopy for hip preservation, impingement and labral tears , knee arthroscopy, shoulder arthroscopy, and shoulder replacement. Dr. Todd has published articles and book chapters on ACL tears, hip arthroscopy techniques, and the treatment of shoulder injuries.

Hip Practice

Dr. Todd’s hip practice focuses on joint preservation and hip arthroscopy including the treatment of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), labral tears, cartilage injuries, hip instability due to capsular insufficiency, and gluteus/hamstring tears.

Knee Practice

Dr. Todd’s knee practice focuses on pediatric and adult injuries including ACL tears, patella dislocations, ligament/tendon/cartilage injuries, meniscus tears, osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) lesions, tibial spine fractures, and congenital discoid meniscus. He has written articles specifically addressing ACL injuries in pediatric patients.

Shoulder Practice

Dr. Todd’s shoulder practice focuses on the treatment of rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability and dislocations, biceps tendon and SLAP tears, the treatment of impingement syndrome and acromioclavicular joint (AC joint) pain and injuries, and both anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement for arthritis and rotator cuff arthropathy.
